Program
The Global Politics Summer School China will take place from August 15 to August 28, 2010 at Fudan University in Shanghai. This year's guiding theme is "China and Europe in a Post-crisis World. Matching the Global and the Local."
In eight courses, the curriculum will address different aspects of current global transformation processes and discuss repurcussions for decision makers. The summer school will cover different theoretical concepts, actors, and crucial policy fields such as Environmental Policy, Urban Policy and Security Policy.
Two of the eight courses are practice-oriented, involving innovative teaching methods such as role plays and simulation games. These modules emphasize the importance of discussion and collaboration among the participants.
In addition, a rich and varied extracurricular program includes a one-day workshop and a roundtable discussion with Shanghai-based German small and medium-sized businesses as well as a visit to the Shanghai branch of a renowned German company. The program also offers excursions into the Shanghai region, a guided historical tour of the city, and a visit to the German beer tent at the Kunshan Beer Festival.
Students who successfully complete the Global Politics Summer School China earn the equivalent of four credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and are awarded a joint certificate from Fudan University and Freie Universität Berlin.
